TUMSAT was established on October 1, 2003 with the merger of Tokyo University of Mercantile Marine and Tokyo University of Fisheries. Both universities had played key roles in developing related sciences and industries for more than a hundred years. Their respective devotion to teaching and research has made TUMSAT a leading institution in higher education today.
