HYCAL - Hydrogen in liquid aluminium
HYCAL is a portable analyser for the real-time measurement and control of dissolved hydrogen in liquid aluminium alloys.
Hycal is an instrument to measure dissolved hydrogen in molten aluminium. To control hydrogen content in aluminium before solidification is necessary to avoid porosity in the final products. The Hycal use an electrochemical cell and compare the measured voltage over this cell with a reference cell to calculate the content of hydrogen in the melt. The instrument use about 5 minutes to reach the first stable measurement, while less than 5 seconds for following measurements. This in contrast to 5-10 minutes between all measurements for comparable instruments based on other measuring principles.
Field of use
Hydrogen content in molten aluminium as function of humidity, time, and temperature. Study impact of future burner systems such as hydrogen.
