SARIL Pathways workshop invitation and sign-up

We are happy to officially invite you to the second online SARIL Pathways workshop.

This time with the topic:

Possibilities and challenges with including sustainability in preparation and response to disruptions affecting freight transport

The EU-project SARIL - Sustainability And Resilience for Infrastructure and Logistics networks - is organising a series of online workshops to discuss how to resiliently and sustainably prepare and respond to disruptions facing freight transport systems. Disruptions could include weather and climate related events, such as flooding and avalanches or war and social unrest.

This workshop will be online on the 7th of May from 10:00-12:30 (sign-up below).

The workshop will give insight into the ongoing work of SARIL and its toolkit for dealing with disruptions, especially focusing on resilient and sustainable decision making. Researchers from the SARIL consortium will be present to answer questions.

Making sustainable choices in transport planning when disruptions happen is challenging for many in the freight transport system. The SARIL project works on several tools, such as transport planning, transport simulations and route planning with distance and emission calculations, as well as real-time monitoring in planning for and responding to disruptions that could help address this challenge. More information about the project can be found here:  SARIL | Sustainability And Resilience for Infrastructure and Logistics networks However, we need the industry's input on how this could be done in a beneficial way, so it is useful for you – at the strategic as well as operative level. For this workshop, we will discuss among others:

  • What are opportunities and challenges with making sustainable choices (environmentally and economically) in the face of freight transport disruptions?
  • What is needed so that resilience and- sustainability enhancing tools (such as the presented SARIL tools) are attractive for you to implement in your planning and preparation to disruptions?

We especially want to engage the strategic and operative level in the following types of companies and organisations in these discussions:

  • Goods owners and production companies, particularly shippers in these organisations
  • Logistics and transport companies, management and operators
  • Transport infrastructure owners and operators, public and private

Other interested actors such as researchers, technology providers, NGO’s and trade associations are also very much welcome.

Sign up for the second workshop on the 7th of May here:

In the first online workshop, we discussed the ambitious vision of a Joint platform for providing information and solutions in response to disruptions to a wide range of stakeholders within freight transport, and how the SARIL tools and other measures could contribute to such a vision. However, this time we turn the discussions more towards sustainability concerns.

Information about how your data will be used in the project can be found here: Information letter

We hope you can take the time to join us digitally.

Greetings from the SARIL team
