IKU Stratigraphic Drilling Projects 1982 - 1993

Access (acad. res.)
Access to core and data material

Access for studying the cores will be administrated by the Norwegian University of Sciences and Technology (NTNU) and application for viewing the cores should be sent to e-mail address: .

Applications for material for destructive analyses are handled by a releasing committee that consists of delegates from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), the Norwegian University of Sciences and Technology (NTNU) and SINTEF Petroleum Research.

The main guiding principles for the committee are:

  • that the suggested project is of scientific or educational interest
  • that duplicate work (and hence waste of sample material) is avoided
  • that the results will finally become available to the public

The access to some already heavily sampled cores or intervals may be restricted in order to preserve some material for possible important future research (on new subjects and/or using new and better methods...).

An application should be sent to the following e-mail address: .

Fees
Handling of applications is cost-free.

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) administrates the core store facilities, and charges a fixed daily fee for the use of the core store and its facilities according to the core store regulations and hourly rates.

Extra work carried out by the core store's or SINTEF's personnel on special request before or after your stay (e.g. core displaying, sawing, plug drilling, search for data, special advice) will be charged for the accounted hours according to the hourly rates applicable.
