Mats Carlin heads the department for Smart Sensors and Microsystems at SINTEF Digital, 80 researchers working along the whole value chain from components and microchips to systems and data analysis.
The driving passion is to create new products, services and startup companies based on a deep tech understanding. On the sensor components side, we run a 800 m2 clean room facility with a full semiconductor processing line for silicon-based sensors, actuators and microsystems.
Education
MSc in electronics (signal processing) from NTH 1991
PhD in informatics (mathematic modelling) from UiO 2000
Competence and research areas
10 years as a researcher within computer vision and artificial intelligence.
Heads an activity within microoptics, applied optics, computer vision, deep learning, rugged sensors for demanding environments, MEMS, piezoMEMS, bioMEMS and radiation detectors.
