Abstract
A time-multiplexing approach to multi-frequency receiver operation is introduced in this paper, wherein a single-frequency receiver platform is configured to dynamically re-tune to each of a selection of different carrier frequencies to produce multi-frequency measurements. The development of a prototype L1-L2 software defined receiver is described, detailing a variety of design parameters and performance trade-offs. Finally, the ranging and positioning performance of the receiver is benchmarked against a survey-grade reference receiver using live GNSS data.
