Abstract
There is an ambition to install 30 GW offshore wind in Norwegian waters by 2040. This will require enormous upscale of wind turbine fabrication, assembly, and deployment. Floating and modular wind turbine storage and assembly quays are promising alternative to land based solutions. Model tests were performed in the Ocean basin laboratory at SINTEF Ocean for three different configurations of interconnected barges: Floating deep water pier (4 offshore barges in a row); Floating island (6 offshore barges, 2x3);Floating deep water pier/harbour (6 offshore barges in L-shape). The scope of the model tests was to measure the barges motion, measure relative wave elevation, and document the global forces on the assemblies.
