Demonstrating probabilistic operational planning on the full Norwegian power system model

Abstract

In this paper, we use load and price data to demonstrate probabilistic operational planning on the power system model used by the Norwegian TSO. Moreover, we compare the probabilistic and the classical deterministic approach where the probabilistic approach gives lower operational costs by allowing higher tie-line flows. High-cost single contingencies are managed by a maximum load shed limit.
